Do you need to have actual cash in pocket to gamble in Las Vegas?

By this question, I mean can you somehow use a credit card to gamble? Say I want to play Roulette, do you buy chips with cash directly from the dealer? The same question goes for Blackjack and Barracat. I believe that the slot machines will take pre-loaded cards. Could someone who frequents Vegas please let me know.

Thanks to all!

Do you need to have actual cash in pocket to gamble in Las Vegas?
You can not use a CC to gamble, only cash or checks(chips)

Lay your cash on the table, between hands/spins/rolls/etc %26gt;do not lay that cash in a betting area%26lt;%26lt; Ask the dealer for "change please" %26gt;If you are playing roulette, and are buying in for a large amount, you should notify the dealer as to which denomination you wish to play. Roulette uses non-value checks, the dealer will mark them in any denomination you wish to play(there will be table %26amp; check minimums and maximums of course)

They don't "take" your CC at the cashiers cage, nor do they "load" the players club card.

The players club card only tracks your play, it has nothing to do with putting $$ in the machine.

You do(can) fill out a credit application at the cashiers cage. They will want a CC, DL and a bank account # - They will check all of this out then issue you a credit line, if you qualify.

The amount of the credit line will be entirely dependant on what the casino thinks you are good for. It could be $100, $500, $1000, the sky is the limit if you're good for it.

I use my credit line(s) to cash checks

%26gt;%26gt;Credit line%26lt;%26lt; They "can" at their discretion issue what is know as a marker. You sign for a certain amount of $$. In the state of Nevada this is the same as writing a check. If you fail to repay a marker it's same as writing a bad check. If you don't pay the casino will turn you in. Even if you pay up immediately upon notification, they will still charge you a 10% collection fee. If you don't pay up they will prosecute you and put you in jail..

My suggestion is to use a credit line as a convenience, so that you don't have to carry large sums of cash.

And, yes, or course there are ATM machines in the casino.

Always-always-always sign up for and use slot club cards, there is no such thing as "I don't play enough".

Good luck

Reply:You can set an account up with the hotel and get a marker where chips will be given to you and you sign for them at the table. You can use your ATM card in teh ATM' or cash checks at the cage but in short unless you are a high roller cash is your best bet. I am not 100% sure but I think that its illiegal now to use cash on the table for a bet I think it has to be chips.
Reply:You better believe Vegas will take your credit card. When you start to gamble go the the cage and they will charge your card and give you a players card that is loaded to play what ever you want. That is how they track your play and how you earn comps. (Free meals, gifts, hotel stay etc.) Also they have ATM machines everywhere in all the Casinos. There will be a charge to your card for the ATM machine use. If you need cash, go the the cage and ask for chips, walk around and then cash them in for cash.

Good luck and have fun in VEGAS BABY...
Reply:NO. In fact, if you walk up to, let's say, a craps table and toss down cash with the LOUD ANNOUNCEMENT "CASH PLAYS".. some dealers will exchange your cash for chips before your bet is taken.

The preloaded cards for the slots are for CUSTOMER TRACKING. If you don't use them (you can still play the slots with cash) then you won't get any of the perks that come with customer tracking.. free food and drink or a free room for the night..

Only a complete amateur would play more than a few dollars without getting a card and being in the player tracking system... and don't think they WON'T NOTICE... because they will spot you for a real beginner and PICK YOU CLEAN.

When you lose some money at one table... if they offer you a HAT, that marks you as are REAL AMATEUR and every time you walk up to a table they will notice you are wearing one of their hats and KNOW you are an amateur... and THAT is too much information for the dealers and pit bosses to know about you.
Reply:You cant use a credit card at the tables, but you can get a cash advance on your credit card at the cashier. They charge you fees, and incredibly high interest rates. So it should be a last resort unless you have no money whatsoever.

The other thing you can do is set up a house account. But of course you need to be a real high roller to do that.
Reply:Yes, you can only gamble with cash. But, there is ATM's every 10 slot machines.

Please Note: Getting your cash ahead of time is wise cause the ATM fee is really high. I think about 5-10 dollars per transaction.
Reply:You can go to a cashier with a credit card and they will load the amount you request on a 'pre-paid' card. DO NOT try to use an ATM at any casino. I saw one man do this and he was charged a ten-dollar ($10) service fee.
