I babysat a friend of my family's kid and I asked if I could be paid in cash, since she would be paying me today, and I want to be able to go christmas shopping tomorrow. She wrote me a check anyway - but said Kroger would cash it. If Kroger wont, is there anywhere else I can go to cash a personal check on a Sunday?

They might be able to cash your personal check for you there, who knows?
I just hope they're open on Sundays!
If not, you might have to wait until Monday, which will be Christmas Eve, and go to your bank, if they're open on Christmas Eve, of course!
Can't you do your Christmas shopping on Christmas Eve?
Most stores are still open on that day.

Reply:Are there any stores in your area who know you personally? They'd probably be the best bet.
Most places are not going to cash a third party check for someone they don't know.
If you have any friends with bank accounts (who trust you), they can deposit the check into their account via an ATM (regulations require that their bank give them immediate credit for up to $100 of an item deposited through an ATM). They can then withdraw up to that $100 for you.
(I'm assuming that your check is for less than $100).
STAY AWAY from check cashing places. They'll rip you off with VERY high fees!!

Reply:Kroger won't cash a 2 party check (not many places will). Now, if the bank she uses has an "in-store" branch, you may be able to get it cashed there. That could be what she's talking about.
Look up the bank on the internet and find out if there are any in-store branches that are open on Sunday. Otherwise, you may have to wait until Monday.
