My husband and I are separated and live in different states, how do we cash a tax refund check?

He is over 1500 miles away from me, and neither one of us have the cash to purchase a plane ticket just to cash a tax refund of less than $1000. The check is in both of our names since we filed jointly for 2007. My bank won't take the check, and if I send the check to him, his bank won't take it! Any suggestions??

If you sign the check you can put pay to under your signature. Then he will sign it and you are giving him the right to it. Or vise versa. I do it for my brother all the time. He gives me his check and he signs it puts pay to then I sign it and they cash it and I give him his money it shouldn't be a big problem. I also heard that Wal-mart can cash them with only one person present.
Reply:TO ADD WHAT THE OTHER POSTER ABOVE SUGGESTED BE SURE TO SEND A COPY OF YOUR DRIVERS LICENSE AND A NOTARIZED LETTER STATING YOU SIGNED THE CHECK AND GIVE HIM PERMISSION TO DEPOSIT IT ALONG WITH A CONTACT PHONE # ,IT MAY OR MAY NOT WORK BUT IT'S WORTH A TRY.

BOTH OF YOU CALL THE BANK AND ASK IF THEY'LL ALLOW THAT AND EXPLAIN YOU'LL SITUATION.
Reply:Please just sign the check, mail it to him, he signs it and deposts it. He then mails you his half
