Where can I cash my tax return check if I don't have and can't get a bank account?

No thanks to my mother in law, my husband and I cannot open a new checking account right now- so, my question is, where can I cash our tax return? We are getting quite a bit back- over $3000, and I know most places charge an outrageous fee to cash them. If anyone knows somewhere around Chicago that will cash it, please let me know.

Reply:Most banks will cash a government check for little or no fee with adequate ID.
Reply:Any check cashing place or pawn shop (if under 500) will cash it fora 1-10% fee.
