How long does somebody have to cash a check?

I know there are several outstanding checks from my bank account. Some of them are several years old. Is there a time limit that a person has to cash a check? I don't know the check numbers so I can't put a stop payment on them.

How long does somebody have to cash a check?
The best answer to this is to ask your bank.

My bank will only honor a check up to 1 yr after it is dated. I think that is the standard rule, but each bank may be different.
Reply:Standard is 90 days. Some banks will honor checks beyond that, bust most wiil not...

Why is the company short of cash, can they sustain itself and how should they handle the situation?

LPP soon started receiving requests for the kits from all over the country, as word spread about their availability. Even without advertising, LPP was able to sell its full inventory every month. However, the company was becoming financially strained. Nancy and Sue had about $100,000 in savings, and they invested about half that amount initially. They believed that this venture would allow them to make money. However, at the present time, only about $30,000 of the cash remains, and the company is constantly short of cash.

Nancy Ginavan has come to you for advice. She does not understand why the company is having cash flow problems. She and Sue have not even been withdrawing salaries. However, they have rented a local building and have hired two more full-time workers to help them cope with the increasing demand. They do not think they could handle the demand without this additional help.

Nancy is also worried that the cash problems mean that the company may not be able to support itself. She has prepared the cash budget shown on the next page. All seminar customers pay for their products in full at the time of purchase. In addition, several large companies have ordered the kits for use by employees who work in remote sites. They have requested credit terms and have been allowed to pay in the month following the sale. These large purchasers amount to about 25% of the sales at the present time. LPP purchases the materials for the kits about 2 months ahead of time. Nancy and Sue are considering slowing the growth of the company by simply purchasing less materials, which will mean selling fewer kits.

The workers are paid in cash weekly. Nancy and Sue need about $15,000 cash on hand at the beginning of the month to pay for purchases of raw materials. Right now they have been using cash from their savings, but as noted, only $30,000 is right.

Why is the company short of cash, can they sustain itself and how should they handle the situation?
they will have to purchase less, bcz they are buying 2 months aheda and being paid (75% of the time) 2 months later

so buy less, increase margins. basically growth is going to have to be alot slower.

or they can get an overdraft/credit facility from the bank that will sustain them as when they run out of cash

How is it that years ago, loan sharks used to get arrested for cash advances and now banks blatantly do it?

I realise that loan sharks used or still break legs to get their money but banks that participate in cash advances are no better, they charge $20 to every hundred same as loans sharks used to or still do but yet the banks are allowed to do this without any repercussions! I have a friend that went for a payday loan to get ahead and he's worse off now, reaaly sad how the system stomps the little guy.

How is it that years ago, loan sharks used to get arrested for cash advances and now banks blatantly do it?
Payday advances really are scum...

They get away with it, because there are laws they abide by, and most of them max out the amount of interest and fees they are allowed to charge.

People need to learn to read the fine print....
Reply:I agree with you. I think that pay day advances should be against the law completely. Credit cards are bad enough. They (credit cards) should not be obtainable until the age of at least 25, if ever, lol.
Reply:because our elected officals are in bed with the banking industry. They're allowed to charge these big interest rates- give loans to poor credit risks and then be bailed out by s%26amp;l with our tax dollars.....it makes me ill

Where can I get an auto refinance loan that will give me extra cash over and above the payoff for my car?

I want to do some extra work on my car to enhance it's value and condition, rather than just trade up. I like my car and I know what I've got into it already. I don't want to get another used car--something that I have to start all over learning about, in terms of its mechanical needs. I just want to make my current car better, with the extra cash imbedded in the refinance.

Where can I get an auto refinance loan that will give me extra cash over and above the payoff for my car?
you can get cash above the payoff for your car if you have enough equity to meet the LTV guidelines for the bank, and still have room. Check with all the local banks to see what their guidelines are, and what they would lend on your car.
Reply:No bank is going to loan you more than the fair market value of your car. Unless your payoff is really low and the car's value is much higher, it's not going to happen.
Reply:You cant, but good luck anyway
Reply:It's highly unlikely that you can get a loan for more than what your car is worth.... So it depends on how much you have left on your current loan..... and how much your car is worth.

Can I cash my tax refund even though I've neglected to fill out form 8453?

They sent me the check? Can I cash it with impunity? I know that eventually I WILL have to fill out 8453, but I dont want to wait to feel "safe" that its made it through the US Postal Service to cash my check.

Yes, you can cash the check - but sign the 8453 and send it in.
