Can someone else cash a cheque in my name?

I have some US cheques written out to my name, but I am not in the US. Cashing the cheque in Europe costs more then the money it is worth. If I give the cheque to a friend going on holiday in the us, will she be able to cash it?

It depends on:1. whether the validity of the checks can be verified by telephone 2. check must be endorsed by you and underneath endorsement it must have written: Pay to the order of, and the persons name who will be cashing it. They must endorse it also. They may deposit into their account, and when it clears the FED the funds will be available to them. If the amount is not large, and the person has maintained an account for a while, they may allow them to cash it outright.
Reply:Not since 9/11.

Now you need a valid Driver's license or Valid State I.D. to cash a check, and in a lot of places you would need a check cashing card for the store, or have an account in your name at a bank.
Reply:if it is endorsed on the back yes
